Yann LeCun slams Anthropic as 'insane and insufferably moralizing' over AI guardrails
LoganGrasby · x · 2026-11-01
Turing Award winner Yann LeCun compared AI over-restrictive guardrails to an electronic wind instrument that would stop him from playing along with Miles Davis or John Coltrane solos while trying to learn from them — arguing models should assist learning rather than block it.
He called Anthropic "insane and insufferably moralizing," adding "but we already knew that." A pointed critique of Anthropic's safety guardrail approach from one of the field's most prominent figures.
