Apple's new CEO John Ternus addressed the "Apple is behind in AI" narrative in a Wired interview: "We don't want to ship AI for AI's sake." He argues Apple's job is building products people love, with AI integrated so seamlessly users won't need to distinguish it from traditional software.
Ternus also rejects the apocalyptic view that AI agents will subsume today's app ecosystem, betting instead that AI becomes a "normal" technology organically woven into existing devices. The poster notes Apple is doing pretty well, so he may have a point.
