Neuralink's next-gen R1 surgical robot shown up close: one electrode thread per 1.5 seconds

Cleo Abram got a close-up look at Neuralink's next-gen R1 surgical robot, highlighting how fast brain-computer interfaces are moving:
- Special cameras map the brain's surface in real time so the robot can avoid tiny blood vessels
- An ultra-fine needle inserts each thread in about 1.5 seconds
- The N1 implant (Link) has 1,000+ electrodes, streams over Bluetooth, and sits flush under the skin — fully wireless versus the USB-C connectors of 2018-2019
Implant recipients can already turn intention into speech, move cursors, play games, and control robotic arms. "I'm talking to you with my mind," one patient said.
