Philosopher Argues Anthropocentric AGI Futures Contradict Life's Inherent Change
danfaggella · x · 2026-11-01
danfaggella argues against presumedly anthropocentric AGI futures—the "humans holding hands with robots forever" vision. Individuals are temporary patterns individuated within a changing living process, so projecting current preferences onto millions of years of future contradicts the very process that makes our existence possible. Wanting predictability isn't a sin, but eternal marriage to any single torch is ultimately scorn for the flame. Optimizing to keep things the same always collides with circumstances expanding beyond what's being optimized for.
