FT data: US AI sector productivity surges while only Sweden keeps pace
Zachly · x · 2026-11-01
Citing an FT chart by John Burn-Murdoch, the author notes real output per worker in AI-adopting sectors (tech, finance, professional services) has surged past its 2012-19 trend in the US since ChatGPT, while the UK, Canada, Australia and the EU show no such lift — Sweden being the sole exception, credited to Anton Osika and Lovable.
He argues this productivity delta explains why Nvidia alone is worth more than the entire European stock market, and warns the US's small edge from the past three years will compound for 20+ years while the rest of the world underestimates it.
