Developer's one-day Codex trial: repeats fixed mistakes and over-engineers features
rnd_pgl · reddit · 2026-10-31
A Reddit developer who signed up for Codex yesterday says he badly regrets it: despite providing documentation, context, and detailed task descriptions, the agent keeps making big mistakes—repeating an error immediately after being told how to avoid it. He also reports over-engineering of well-specified features, reinventing simple system tools, and jumping randomly into backlog tasks instead of taking the next in queue.
