OpenAI tightens Codex account limits: stacking paid accounts on one device can now get you locked out
TheZachMueller · x · 2026-10-31
OpenAI's new help page on card and device limits: one device supports a capped number of paid accounts (Go/Plus/Pro at 100/200/500); exceeding it triggers 'Device limit reached' at sign-in or later forced sign-out, even after successful purchase. Signing out other accounts doesn't free slots; Business/Enterprise/Edu/Free don't count. The sanctioned route to more usage is buying credits in the Codex app. This lands the same week multi-account switching shipped on mobile.
