Google DeepMind built PlanAssist with Gemini to help UK planning officers process routine householder applications, which take up to 70% of their workload. In pilots across Barnet, Camden and Dorset it cut officer assessment time by up to 58%, while officers keep final say on every application. The tool is now rolling out to 12 more local planning authorities in England, part of DeepMind's partnership with the UK government supporting its goal of 1.5 million new homes by 2029.
