Jitter trade-off in sequence models: too large dilutes peak signal
anshulkundaje · x · 2026-10-31
Researchers debate the jitter trade-off in genomic sequence models: excessive jitter mixes counts from strong and weak regions, diluting the model's ability to predict high values while reducing negative sequences seen. Kundaje notes early short-context models centered on peak summits learned positional biases of motifs in the central 200bp without sufficient jitter.
