500bp jitter needed to kill center bias in genomic sequence models, says Kundaje
anshulkundaje · x · 2026-10-31
Anshul Kundaje shares lessons from early sequence models: with 2K input sequences, 50bp jitter still leaves strong center position bias — 500bp largely eliminates it. Center-biased models predict variant effects inconsistently depending on variant position, and variants are typically centered when scoring.
