User's AI agent failed to flag a phishing email and he got popups everywhere
West_Abrocoma9524 · reddit · 2026-10-31
A Reddit user recounts how their AI assistant simply announced "you have an email from your health insurance company" without detecting it was phishing. Clicking the spoofed payment-notice email flooded their screen with malicious popups, forcing manual privacy-settings cleanup. Only afterward did the user spot typos that would have exposed the scam.
The poster questions why phishing detection isn't a standard part of agent training, and says they had to manually instruct the agent to scan all emails going forward — an experience that undermined trust in outsourcing email triage to agents.
