Anthropic's Claude Code now steers away from cloning games; devs push back
sytelus · x · 2026-10-31
Addy Osmani revealed Anthropic added two sentences to Claude Code's prompt on Opus 5.5 to steer it from recreating someone else's specific game, citing IP policy — original games, genre games and self-made assets keep working, and users can flag false refusals. Developer sytelus sharply criticized the move: by that logic an iPhone would refuse to photograph paintings; legal questions are complex and belong between humans, and AI shouldn't intervene by default. The clash highlights the trade-off between IP compliance and over-blocking in model guardrails.
