axiomize: an MCP server for scientific models that refuses to run unvalidated ones
Emergency-Tutor-7 · reddit · 2026-10-31
axiomize, an open-source (MIT) scientific modeling engine, ships an MCP server (stdio, launched via axiomize mcp after pip install axiomize) exposing 35 tools under the axiomize.<verb> namespace: 16 model tools (plan, validate, simulate, fit, stability, uncertainty, bifurcation, etc.) plus 19 covering the surrounding workflow—data cleaning, sensitivity analysis, experiment design, reproduction.
Core principle: it will not simulate a model that fails dimensional validation—agents get structured errors with failing checks instead of plausible numbers. Expensive studies return APPROVALREQUIRED until explicitly approved, and workflowpolicy reports spending limits. Runs live in an integrity-checked ledger; inspectrun and reproduce verify rather than re-derive. Exports to SBML, CellML, Modelica and a SHA-256 portable bundle. Limits: the npm package is just a launcher; Bayesian sampling and FEM need extra dependencies and report unavailable rather than silently substituting.
