YC-backed Axonnic launches EMG sleeve to capture human hand skills for robot training
ycombinator · x · 2026-10-31
Axonnic (YC F26) unveiled a forearm EMG sleeve that tracks finger movement and estimates fingertip force from muscle signals, leaving hands completely free. Unlike camera-based tracking, it keeps decoding when the hand is occluded, and the team has demonstrated live control of a robotic hand. By syncing EMG with video and hand pose, it builds dexterous-manipulation training datasets from skilled workers doing real tasks like sewing, electrical work, and fine assembly. Founders Max and Arsh bring Oxford backgrounds in high-density surface EMG research and clinical ML plus hardware and robotics experience.
