AI formal verification: Aristotle proves memory safety of OpenTitan root-of-trust C code
satnam6502 · x · 2026-10-31
- In a seminar at the University of Glasgow titled "Why the World of Formal Verification is On Fire", satnam6502 revealed that Aristotle was used to prove memory safety of some C code in the OpenTitan silicon root of trust.
- Screenshot shows the Aristotle agent completed verification of the otpctrlseccm security countermeasure with all 7 properties Proved and 0 Refuted.
- The agent also asked substantive scope questions—checking whether assertion patterns actually match the design and could otherwise hold vacuously—showing non-trivial reasoning over the RTL/FSM details. More details promised later.
