Solo dev ships remote MCP server for AI video studio Framevine with 40 tools, OAuth and spend caps
Possible_Bug_4203 · reddit · 2026-10-31
A solo developer open-sourced his integration story for Framevine, a browser-based AI image/video studio exposed as a remote MCP server usable from Claude, Cursor and ChatGPT.
Highlights:
- 40 tools covering generate/extend/edit for video and images, last-frame or reference-image continuation, timeline stitching into long videos, and a pre-generation cost estimator.
- Connect via claude mcp add --transport http framevine https://mcp.framevine.com/mcp or add the URL as a custom connector.
- OAuth with dynamic client registration (mcp:read / mcp:generate), no API keys; daily spend caps — when credits run out it returns a Stripe checkout link and the MCP itself cannot purchase.
- Async job polling, inline image previews in chat, and a branching canvas in the webapp for iterating creative directions.
- Backed by models from Grok and FAL (Seedance, Kling); new accounts get 150 free credits. He's soliciting feedback on whether 40 tools is too many for tool selection.
