Mathematician Tony Feng announced his move from Google DeepMind to OpenAI, calling the latest model "on another level" compared to prior AI systems (including Astra).
- OpenAI released math results with GPT 5.5 (Erdos-1014), GPT 5.6 (Cycle Double Cover), and GPT 6 (non-sofic groups). Within months of each release, users on laptops elicited 10x+ comparable results from the models.
- He expects the same to happen with the Oct 6 release, which will be "exciting, empowering... and disruptive," urging the world to prepare carefully.
