Dev builds Aula with Claude Code: open-source app turns notes into courses
astrolafi · reddit · 2026-10-30
Built over a few weeks with Claude Code, Aula is a free, open-source study app that turns your notes, slides and old exams (or just a topic) into a full course: short lessons, practice problems graded as you go, flashcards, and a realistic mock exam — spread out until your exam date.
Features the author hasn't seen elsewhere:
- Read-only login to Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard, Classroom, Teams etc. to pull your files and due dates (it never submits anything)
- Exam calendar with a "prepare for this exam" button
- Chat interface: say "I have an English test Monday at 10" and it schedules and builds the course
- A tutor beside each exercise that gives hints instead of answers
Works on Mac, Windows and Linux; accepts a Claude or ChatGPT subscription, an API key, or a free local model. Early days, feedback welcome — github.com/luumlabs/aula.
