Replit CEO slams Anthropic's 'defensive' response to compromised Claude Code extension
amasad · x · 2026-10-30
Replit CEO Amjad Masad publicly criticized Anthropic's handling of the malicious Claude Code extension update. He argues that Cursor users who installed the "official" Claude Code extension from the marketplace would have received the compromised update — from a user's perspective, the official marketplace channel was compromised. He calls it disappointing that Anthropic's first response was defensive hair-splitting over the word "official" instead of worrying about the impact on affected users.
