Veteran's rule for agent coding: a heavy test suite is what keeps changes from breaking
jmschreiber91 · x · 2026-10-30
Follow-up to his thread: the exciting part of agent coding is that complex or niche features and analyses he never had time for are now "a short convo away".
The flip side: when you don't understand the underlying code, you must make sure nothing breaks — which is why he invested heavily in a test suite. He now uses the agent workflow internally all the time, and its coverage is usually more comprehensive than his own old practices.
