Ovenlight: open-source way to privately share Claude Code apps with friends' phones via Tailscale
d__code · reddit · 2026-10-30
Ovenlight (Apache-2.0) solves the problem of getting Claude Code-built apps to non-technical friends and family.
How it works
- Claude Code installs the app straight to your phone via a plugin; you send invite links to guests
- Guests install the Ovenlight app (iOS/Android), tap Join — no accounts, no VPN setup
- Apps run on your own machine, never hosted publicly; Tailscale runs inside Ovenlight so each guest's phone reaches only invited apps
- Works with any web app serving HTTP on 127.0.0.1, Claude-built or not
- Each app gets its own icon, full screen; guests can send feedback in-app that Claude Code can read and act on
Built with Claude Code: the SwiftUI app, Android app, and Go connector — including running a Tailscale node inside the phone apps and invite verification. Key design call: no middleman server for guest traffic, avoiding single-point data exposure.
Requirements: a free Tailscale account plus an always-on computer (Mac/Win11/Linux/Raspberry Pi/cloud box). Guests need only the Ovenlight app. No accounts, analytics, or ads.
