Pika H3 Flex ported to Mac via MLX: 5s video in ~5 minutes on M4 Max
Opening-Ad5541 · reddit · 2026-10-30
A developer ported Pika's H3 Flex — a 6-step adapter on MiniMax H3 that generates video with synced sound, released October 29 for NVIDIA/H100 — to Apple Silicon via MLX, reportedly the first Mac port, available in the free open-source Mac app Phosphene.
Benchmarks on M4 Max 64GB: a 5s clip at 640x384 takes 5 minutes; 1024x576 takes 16 minutes vs 36.5 minutes for base H3 at 15 steps with the same seed. A 15s run took 55 minutes, with 27 GiB peak memory.
Caveats: it's a preview — 15s runs chain three 5s windows so sets and side characters can drift, and unnamed characters may disappear (Pika's own examples show this). Ref2VA isn't ported yet. The author made a 20s short film, The Keeper, fully generated locally with keyframes from ChatGPT. Pinokio install available.
