Princeton paper surveys 33 trends in AI agent evaluation science
random_walker · x · 2026-10-30
Researchers at Princeton, teaming up with evaluation experts from Stanford, the UK AI Security Institute, and Brookings, released Emerging Trends in AI Agent Evaluation, a survey mapping 33 trends across three areas: evaluation science and methods (validity, contamination, LLM judges, red-teaming, human baselines), an expanded research agenda (simulated users, dangerous capabilities, economic impact, systemic evaluation), and the evaluator ecosystem (independence, funding, rising costs, public sector). Each trend comes with best practices, research directions, or practical considerations. The launch was ironically delayed when a PHP vulnerability forced their server offline for a day.
