100 open-source AI security tools challenge kicks off with DirectGuard, a sub-ms prompt injection guard
Venom943 · reddit · 2026-10-30
A Reddit developer is starting a long-term challenge to build 100 open-source security tools for AI/LLM systems. Day 1 targets direct prompt injection and system override attacks: relying on model alignment or a heavyweight LLM classifier adds latency and cost, while attackers use structural overrides and persona hijacking. The first release, DirectGuard, is a lightweight Python guardrail using pre-compiled regexes and heuristic keyword scoring to intercept malicious override vectors in sub-millisecond time before they reach the model context. Open-sourced on GitHub; the author is soliciting AI security career advice.
