Model choice is the least important decision in an AI project

The author argues that which model you pick is the least important decision in an AI project. They've switched their default coding agent between Codex and Claude Code multiple times in recent months, and nothing built for clients had to be redone. What carries over is the work around the model: rules written in code, real examples tested every release, and records of what the agent actually did. You can swap a model in an afternoon; that other work takes months — and it's what you actually own.
