Open-Source Recast Lets Creators License Footage and Swap the Host's Face

A developer released Recast, an open-source creator video marketplace built for the #OpenSourceHiggsfield challenge. The idea: give ordinary people another way to earn from original content. Sellers upload interviews, pranks or skits and specify permitted usage; buyers save reference photos and a voice recording, pick a clip, and generate a version with their own persona replacing the host.

The app includes creator profiles, discovery, team libraries and before-and-after playback. Paid selling is the business model; the prototype currently uses free licenses.

Under the hood, video generation runs Higgsfield Genjutsu through Comfy Router, and voice cloning uses Seed Audio, with reviewed host dialogue segments so the other speaker keeps their original audio. All generation goes through Router.

The author notes person isolation and background preservation still need work, and published source, Router recipes, MIT license and local setup instructions (Node.js 24; live generation needs your own Comfy key and credits).
