Apple silently removed the hand from its Korean iPad ad amid pinch-gesture furor

Apple's Korean iPad mini page shows the tablet floating alone: the pinch-a-hand pose used in the US and China to show off its 5.4mm thinness was quietly removed, and Apple hasn't explained why.
The gesture is radioactive in South Korea: the 2015 feminist forum Megalia used it as a logo mocking Korean men, and it stayed contentious long after the forum closed. In May 2021 GS25 faced boycotts over a pinched sausage in a poster, its CEO apologized, and BBQ, Kyochon and Musinsa pulled ads too. Per the report, one woman has already received death threats over the gesture in the current furor.
