Higgsfield sends ComfyUI a cease-and-desist over open-source challenge replicating its closed apps

Higgsfield has sent ComfyUI a cease-and-desist demanding the "Open Source Higgsfield Challenge" be taken down within 48 hours, arguing that use of the Higgsfield name and its CEO's likeness implies official association. Organizer yolandyan calls out the irony: Higgsfield promised to open-source its product when it launched its API but never did. For two weeks, community builders have been recreating popular closed apps as open workflows anyone can run — an effort the challenge explicitly frames as delivering what Higgsfield failed to. Critics also accuse the company of routinely repackaging open-source community work without credit.
