Team Turns CodeRabbit's 'Slop' Detector Loose on PRs and Splits Over It
Fickle_Excitement729 · reddit · 2026-10-30
A team enabled CodeRabbit's slop detection, which flags PRs that look like low-effort AI output (600 lines for a 20-line ticket, duplicated helpers, tests that only check mocks) and auto-applies a 'slop' label.
- 9 of 70 PRs flagged so far; 8 arguably deserved it
- The 9th was a junior dev's mostly hand-written PR; he saw the public label before anyone spoke to him and had a rough afternoon — the team now shows the label only after human review
- Half the team wants it on every repo because it forces people to actually read their agent's code; the other half calls public 'slop' labeling shaming with extra steps
