Amazon's DreamFAR world model nearly doubles π₀ real-world performance for robot training

Amazon's FAR team introduced DreamFAR, a real-time interactive world model for robotic manipulation that tackles a key simulation challenge: keeping object states consistent over long interactions.
How it works
- Contact-based memory: keyframes are saved whenever the robot touches or releases an object, preventing objects from drifting, disappearing, or reappearing in wrong places.
- Runs at 10+ FPS, supports 5+ minutes of continuous generation, and covers 1,000+ object-interaction tasks.
Key result: combining DreamFAR-generated demonstrations with real robot data nearly doubled the real-world performance of a π₀ policy versus real demonstrations alone.
The accompanying figure shows generated scenes spanning articulated objects, deformables, multi-object, tool use, handover, cloth, particles, paper folding, cables, and writing. World models could serve as virtual training grounds for robots before deployment.
