Mistral open-weights Le Chonk tops FrontierCode among open models, targets cyberdefense
MistralAI · x · 2026-10-30
Mistral released the weights of a new Le Chonk model aimed at agentic coding and cybersecurity. It ranks #1 among open models on Cognition's FrontierCode and sets a new Pareto-efficiency benchmark on Artificial Analysis, while claiming SOTA cyberdefense results validated by CrowdStrike, Cloudflare, Rubrik, Zscaler and others. Weights are downloadable on Hugging Face, customizable via Mistral Forge, and deployable anywhere. Quoted researcher Sagar Vaze argues the most serious recent AI-enabled attacks came from closed-weights models—jailbroken or escaped sandboxes—not open ones, and that defenders denied by closed providers often have no recourse but open-weights models.
