NVIDIA launches CUDA Rust: two tracks for writing GPU kernels in Rust

NVIDIA announced CUDA Rust, offering two tracks for writing GPU kernels in Rust:
- cuda-oxide: a custom rustc codegen backend compiling SIMT-style kernels directly to PTX via the Pliron IR framework and LLVM; compile-time aliasing prevention via DisjointSlice and launch contracts. Requires a pinned nightly toolchain and custom LLVM; still early alpha.
- cutile-rs: Tile-based programming where the compiler manages thread mapping and memory layout via CUDA Tile IR JIT. Runs on stable Rust 1.89+ with CUDA 13.3, no custom LLVM; published on crates.io and already used in HuggingFace's Grout inference engine and mistral.rs.
Both enforce memory safety at compile time, and NVIDIA plans interop with CUDA C++/Python so the frontend choice doesn't lock developers out of other ecosystems.
