Dev built a Spotify-style self-hosted music app with Claude in 6 months, replacing Lidarr and the arrs
CoderLuii · reddit · 2026-10-30
A developer used Claude Code to build the music side of HolyArrs, a self-hosted app that replaces Sonarr, Radarr, Lidarr, Bazarr, Prowlarr, Seerr, SABnzbd and qBittorrent with a Spotify-like experience for your own library — artist pages, charts, one-tap album requests, MusicBrainz auto-tagging, and its own metadata source so third-party outages don't break it.
His methodology for big Claude projects: before coding, he had Claude study 36 apps (Lidarr, the other arrs, Seerr, cross-seed) and write specs for every part, then built one small piece at a time against those specs. Skipping the spec-first step, he says, made things fall apart fast. Free and open source, seeking early testers.
