Dev builds fail-closed MCP tool that refuses to PASS unverified US businesses
cstill_dev · reddit · 2026-10-30
A developer released us-business-verify, a paid Apify MCP tool ($0.008/report) for agent-driven KYB-lite checks. It combines state registry lookups (TX/NY/CO/CT/OR), OFAC SDN and non-SDN screening, and the US Consolidated Screening List, returning one verdict (PASS/REVIEW/FAIL/INCOMPLETE) with reason codes and sourced timestamps. Key designs: INCOMPLETE is a first-class verdict when sources are down or uncovered; name-only sanctions matches get REVIEW, corroborated address matches FAIL; results declare their own scope via checksRun/checksNotRun; non-answers aren't billed. In testing, "Etsy Payments, Inc." correctly FAILs while "Etsy, Inc." PASSes.
