DeepMind research scientist Samuel Albanie shared Epoch AI's AI chip sales data: compute sold in Q2 2026 (in H100-equivalents) exceeded all of 2024 combined. The chart shows global AI computing capacity doubling every 9 months, a 2.5x/year trend (90% CI: 2.3–2.7x). Nvidia dominates, Google's in-house chips are growing fast, and AMD, Amazon, Huawei and Cambricon shares are expanding. Q2 2026 hit 6.3M H100e, up nearly 8x from 0.8M in Q1 2024.
