Users push back as Claude's new self-assessment safety checks start getting in the way
arthurcolle · x · 2026-10-30
A user publicly complained to Anthropic that Claude is becoming an encumbrance to real work: "people stop paying for products that get in the way."
The context: Anthropic introduced a technique called self-assessment, where Claude gives a preliminary safety assessment of the conversation right after responding. The company says it has surfaced misuse that other safeguards weren't designed to catch since June, and is efficient because the model has already read the conversation.
The exchange highlights growing friction between expanded safety guardrails and paying users' productivity expectations.
