Epoch AI: GLM 5.3 autonomously builds Firefox exploits from the patch gap for ~$1,000 per version
Eliv_nurotic · reddit · 2026-10-30
Epoch AI found that GLM 5.3 can autonomously compromise six recent Firefox versions by exploiting the 'patch gap' — the window between security fixes being published and shipped to users. Using a deliberately basic setup emulating a low-resource attacker and only publicly available information, the model reliably built working exploits at $1,000 per compromised version. The exploits could steal passwords and auth cookies or read any file on the user's machine after opening a single webpage, with no further interaction — highlighting real offensive-security risk from open-weight frontier models.
