Stanford Prof Anshul Kundaje: Banning AI in Peer Review Is Futile, Incentivize Disclosure
anshulkundaje · x · 2026-10-30
In a debate on AI use in peer review, Stanford professor Anshul Kundaje argues it is literally impossible to stop reviewers from using AI in some form — they already do. Instead of bans, journals should incentivize honest reporting of how AI was used in reviews. He also rejects the proposal of journals running their own AI review while forbidding human reviewers from using AI, calling that approach completely wrong.
