Evo 2 Genome Model Gains In-Context Learning, Designs Antibodies and Phage Genomes
BrianHie · x · 2026-10-30
Two parallel studies from Brian Hie, Garyk Brixi and team show the Evo 2 genome language model exhibits in-context learning. With just a handful of prompt examples, it designs novel DNA regulatory elements, proteins, de novo antibodies, CRISPR-Cas9 loci, mitochondrial genomes and entire bacteriophages. Synthetic sequences can be iteratively chained into a 'genomic chain-of-thought' for harder design goals, and Evo 2 has been upgraded to vLLM inference — a data- and compute-efficient paradigm for biological sequence design.
