kimo: a GUI-free video editor that AI agents drive over MCP, rendering frames to check their own work
LieTop7965 · reddit · 2026-10-30
A college student open-sourced kimo (MIT), a GUI-free video editor designed for AI coding agents: every operation is a typed tool call over MCP instead of raw ffmpeg strings, and the agent can render a single frame to visually verify titles, color grades, etc. before committing — closing the feedback loop. It supports cutting, keyframes, titles/captions, color grading, particles, audio and export, works with Codex, Cursor, OpenCode or any MCP client, and ships as a 15MB CPU-only Rust binary that runs on a 2GB box without a GPU.
