Hidden ChatGPT checkout text reveals shared usage limits across ChatGPT and Codex starting December
btibor91 · x · 2026-10-30
A new hidden checkout disclaimer in the ChatGPT web app reads: 'Starting in December, plan usage will have a shared limit across all of ChatGPT and Codex.' This suggests subscription usage caps will no longer be counted per product but pooled across ChatGPT conversations and Codex coding — effectively reducing headroom for users who heavily use both. OpenAI has not yet formally announced the change.
