Sperid Idol turns one photo into a 1M-Gaussian 3DGS splat in under 2 seconds on 7.2GB VRAM
Crazy-Repeat-2006 · reddit · 2026-10-30
Speridlabs released Idol, an open tool that turns a single image of an object — a render, a generated image, or a photo — into a standard 3DGS .ply with up to 1,048,576 Gaussians, automatically removing the background and framing the object.
- Runs on consumer GPUs with just 7.2GB of VRAM
- Completes in under 2 seconds
- Weights available on Hugging Face (speridlabs/idol)
The attached "dog sipping coffee in flames" splat shows the output quality — one of the lowest-friction single-image-to-3DGS pipelines around for asset creators and 3DGS hobbyists.
