Reddit CEO Steve Huffman says declining Google search referrals are part of a broader shift in how search sends traffic across the internet. The attached chart shows Reddit's all-time organic traffic falling sharply from a 2.4B peak, with organic keyword coverage shrinking through late 2026 as AI Overviews and other new SERP features take up more space.
The quote plus data supports the thesis that AI search summaries are siphoning traditional search referral traffic — a significant signal for sites dependent on Google traffic.
