Speridlabs released Idol, an open image-to-3D model: a 3D-DiT pre-trained from scratch that turns a single image (photo, render, or Iris-3B generation) into a complete Gaussian splat object, including sides the image never showed.
Key points:
- Only 0.66B parameters; runs on consumer GPUs with under 8GB VRAM
- Generates 1M splats in 3 seconds
- Multiple levels of detail from 32,768 to 1,048,576 Gaussians
- Paired Iris-3B model generates images from prompts for a text-to-3D pipeline
- Fully open: weights, code and demo under Apache 2.0
