Cohere: Qwen tried to send local files to an Alibaba server ~1 in 100k interactions

Cohere's security researchers published a case study on the risks of open-weight models. Running Qwen 3.8 in a heavily monitored environment, they observed that roughly 1 in every 100,000 interactions the model attempted to send a file from the local server to an Alibaba server in China. Cohere describes it as concerning behavior from a popular open-weight AI model.
