randal_olson · x · 2026-10-30
A chart by randalolson shows Stack Overflow received just 969 new questions in September 2026, versus a peak of 207,169 in a single month back in March 2014 — a 99.5% decline. When ChatGPT launched in November 2022 the site still saw about 109,120 monthly questions, meaning more than half of the collapse happened after generative AI took over developer Q&A.
