Backlink Pilot v3: from 500 submissions a run to 2-4 a day, rebuilt as an open-source AI agent playbook
sujingshen · x · 2026-10-30
The author shares lessons from rewriting a backlink tool whose original pitch — submit to hundreds of directories with one command — mostly earned rejections and spam flags. Volume doesn't buy rankings; the hard part is deciding what's worth submitting, chasing verification emails, and pacing.
Backlink Pilot v3 is now an open-source (MIT) AI agent playbook instead of a script:
- The agent handles grunt work: scouting directories, submitting, clicking verification emails, keeping the ledger
- Humans keep the judgment calls: DNS/meta ownership, domain inbox, anything paid, final logo and screenshots — the agent must stop and ask before touching these
- Defaults are deliberately boring: free and free-queue listings only, paid boosts and required reciprocal links skipped, 2–4 real submissions per day
