Vjeux · x · 2026-10-30
Meta's Hermes JavaScript engine has landed a major performance upgrade with the new Tip JIT backend. Benchmarks across 13 workloads show the Tip interpreter at a 1.54x geomean speedup and Tip JIT (-Xjit) at 2.84x, with peaks like NavierStokes at 5.18x, DeltaBlue at 4.02x and RayTrace at 4.38x. As Hermes powers React Native, the gains translate directly to mobile app performance.
