Genome Model Evo 2 Learns In-Context, Generating Antibodies and Phages
LeoTZ03 · x · 2026-10-30
The Arc team (garykbrixi, Brian Hie, et al.) demonstrated in-context learning (ICL) in the genome language model Evo 2: like LLMs, it can learn new tasks from a handful of prompt examples with no retraining.
With just a few examples, Evo 2 ICL generates proteins, de novo antibodies, CRISPR-Cas9 loci, mitochondrial genomes, and entire bacteriophages. The team can even iteratively feed synthetic sequences back as a chain-of-thought to hit harder design goals — bringing the few-shot LLM paradigm into genome design.
