Google admits AI Mode is cannibalizing Search: Q3 revenue up just $79M on fastest query growth in 5 years

For the first time, Google admits its own AI is part of the Search slowdown: strong AI Mode growth weighed on revenue because AI Mode monetizes less than traditional search.
Per the chart (Alphabet quarterly data, Q2→Q3 change in Google Search & other revenue): -$1.15B in 2022, +$1.398B in 2023, +$876M in 2024, +$2.377B in 2025, and just +$79M in 2026 — despite search queries growing at their fastest rate in five years. More searches, almost the same revenue: the AI self-cannibalization effect is stark in the numbers.
